2007 Cape Jaffa Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc
87 Points

A clear silvery hue. The nose is a little closed at first, but gradually reveals aromas of cut grass, yeast, apple and with more aeration, orange-blossom. The palate is well-balanced with moderate fruit concentration, a little low in acidity, very grassy, the Sauvignon a little more dominant towards the finish. Not complex, but well crafted. Drink now-2010. Tasted October 2007.

2007 Cape Jaffa Unwooded Chardonnay
91 Points

The nose displays moderate intensity, but quite complex with a slight waxy quality, a touch of white peach and a hint of kerosene that adds another dimension. The palate is quite pungent and aromatic with citrus fruits, beeswax, a touch of lime and a hint of honey. Good acidity, nice tension, very natural. Something of a fine Roussillon about this. Excellent. Drink now-2012. Tasted October 2007.

2005 Cape Jaffa Cabernet Sauvignon
89 Points

A deep black/garnet colour. A very fine nose of cranberry, blackberry and a touch of pomegranate. Very good definition, good intensity. The palate is full-bodied with grainytannins, a plump middle with juicy blackberry leaf, raspberry and a touch of tar in the background. Good weight – very dense on the finish. Perhaps it could do with a little more tension but this it has very good purity and vigour. Drink now-2013. Tasted October 2007.

2007 Cape Jaffa Cabernet Sauvignon
91-92 Points

Made fully biodynamic. This has a lighter, but fresher and more vigorous nose wtih blackberry leaf, cranberry and cherry. Much more lift than the 2005. The palate is medium-bodied, very pure with fine tannins. A slightly grainy texture which lends the wine an attractive mouthfeel. A good example how a slightly leafy wine leave the palate utterly refreshed and willing the next sip! Quite Bordeaux like on the finish. My kind of wine – one you drink. Drink now-2014. Tasted October 2007.

2006 Cape Jaffa Shiraz
92-93 Points

Like the Cabernet Sauvignon, this is now full biodynamic rather than conversion. This has a very intense, smoky nose; raspberry leaf, a touch of cooked meat and a hint of seaweed. Good definition and vigour. The palate is medium-bodied, very good acidity, beautifully balanced and as complex as many a top Rhône wine. Very fine acidity, great tension and nervosité towards the finish. A touch of sous-bois towards the finish – this is destined to be a great Shiraz. Wonderful. Drink now-2014. Tasted October 2007.
